Day 9 NaPoWriMo/GloPoWriMo the prompt is about little things meeting big things. I wrote this haiku as a writing warm up.
Dust motes Blue Danubing
An afternoon tea dance
Sunshine chiffon swirl
Then I carried on some and woke up my husband and said, “Listen to this poem I just wrote.” And he rolled over, listening, then sleepily smiled and said, “Make us a cup of tea?” And I did, quite happily.
The Little Things
Locating the lost keyring
without smirking
Exclaiming how the meal prepared
is art on a plate
Also
he likes eating my cake
He forgives the cat scratch
even as he’s threatening to scud its ass
He takes exercise
and watches his diet
Determined to outlast me
so ultimately
I will not be
the one left
alone
